About Kyushu National Museum

The Kyushu National Museum is one of four national museums in Japan. Located adjacent to the vast grounds of Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, the museum can be visited on foot or by bus from Dazaifu Station. The museum has a wide range of exhibits that provide an insight into the formation of Japanese culture from an Asian historical perspective. Dazaifu, a Japanese heritage site that served as a gateway between Japan and Asia from the 8th to 12th centuries, when the Silk Road was at its peak, is attracting a great deal of attention.

Tips

If you like archaeology and ancient history, you will love this museum. After all, Kyushu is a treasure trove of ancient artifacts, and so the exhibits are well worth seeing.
It happened to be the changing season before GW, when there were no special exhibitions, but the permanent exhibition alone was worth seeing (it is also good to be able to look around slowly without crowds).
The service was not so good, and the pasta with clams had too many broken pieces of shells, even though I knew I had to be careful with the shells….
I had high expectations for this restaurant since it was crowned with a famous hotel, but I guess it was just one customer and it was a cheap (for this restaurant) lunch, so I guess it can’t be helped.
