About Shimane Prefectural Shimane Marine Aquarium
Shimane Prefectural Shimane Marine Aquarium is located in Iwami Seaside Park overlooking the Sea of Japan and exhibits 10,000 marine creatures of about 400 species. The aquarium offers many attractions, including the “Bubbling of Happiness” performance by beluga whales, which is said to bring happiness to those who see it; the Penguin Pavilion, where you can see about 60 penguins up close; a large 1,000-ton aquarium where sharks and rays swim in a leisurely manner; and entertaining performances by sea lions and seals.
