About Miyagi Zao Fox Village

Here is a rare fox breeding facility in Japan, located in the Hachimiya district of Fukuoka, Shiroishi City, where the great nature of Minami-Zao spreads out. Known for its cooperation in the movie “Helen the Baby Fox,” Miyagi Zao Kitsune Mura is located in the forest of Kawarako district, where the top of Mt. The largest area of the village is home to about 100 foxes, including foxes with different expressions such as foxes, rare silver foxes, and arctic foxes, which can be seen up close and personal.

Currently, the children and grandchildren of Helen, who appeared in the film, are growing up! Visitors can hold the fox cubs born every spring, feed them, and interact with miniature horses, goats, and rabbits, making this a valuable facility that will likely provide visitors with an opportunity to think about living in harmony with animals. The park also has a corner where fox goods and other items are sold, as well as a snack corner.

The photos of the foxes in spring, summer, fall, and winter are also a must-see. The park is thoroughly sanitized, including cleaning and infection prevention. Tips

Two couples went to Zao for the purpose of Kitsune-mura!
It was a good decision! The admission fee was 1000 yen and the fox feed was 200 yen, which was enough for an hour’s stay. The facility is compact and makes use of the mountain terrain, so sneakers are a good idea.

I was surprised to see foxes right in front of me as soon as I entered. I was surprised to see so many foxes. You can see a sleeping fox at a distance of 30 centimeters. I didn’t know that foxes were so cute. There is a place to feed the foxes, and you buy food from a man and throw it from a high platform. They are so cute! And they fight so much!
Are they newcomers? Maybe it’s because they are new, maybe because they are young, but there is a hierarchy among the foxes, and there are foxes in the back that want the food but can’t get to it, so you have to watch them. I tried to throw some food to one of the foxes, but another fox came to take it away from me and ate it threateningly.

We were not allowed to try holding the foxes because of the time limit.
There are many rules, and since the foxes are free roaming, there is a high possibility that they will bite you, so you will be warned several times. For example, car keys are dangerous, so put them in your pocket. Keep your luggage to a minimum!
