About Mitaka no Mori Ghibli Museum

Opening hours
10:00-18:00 (café opening hours 11:00-19:00 latest entry at 18:00)
There are four desigated entry times each day, 10:00, 12:00, 14:00 and 16:00, with entry within half an hour
Closed Days
The museum is usually closed on Tuesdays and occasionally on Wednesdays.
Two days a year are restricted to Mitaka residents
The museum is closed for a few long periods each year (about 10 days), but this can change from year to year.

How to get there
Get off at Mitaka Station on the JR Chuo Line.
From Shinjuku Station, take the JR Chuo Line express train for about 20 minutes to Mitaka Station.
After exiting Mitaka Station South Exit, walk along Tamagawa Kamisui for about 15 minutes, there are many signs along the way.
You can also take an interval bus from Mitaka Station South Exit (when you walk out of JR Station South Exit, look carefully under the bridge are some bus stops with numbered signs, the one to Mitaka is currently platform 9, anyway, there are clear signs on the body, so you can check by yourself when you arrive), you can arrive in about 10 minutes.
There are two kinds of interval buses, the body designed by Ghibli.
1.Departs from Mitaka Station, passes through the Museum of Fine Arts, and then loops around to Mitaka Station.
2.The bus departs from Mitaka Station and goes to Star Academy via the art museum.
When you walk from Kichijoji Temple to the gate of Mitaka no Mori, there is a huge Totoro waiting for you, where you can exchange your reservation ticket for a movie film-like ticket, and with the ticket you can watch an animation for free in the museum.
Through the Totoro is a building with two floors underground and two floors above ground, surrounded by green forest.
Open the door and it is an incredible world
Sunflowers are painted on the ceiling, and even the toilets have a special place.

Trihawks Library Reading Room
It is filled with picture books and children’s books recommended by Hayao Miyazaki and the Ghibli Museum.
On the second floor, there is also a playhouse where children can feel the cat demon bus that appears in “Totoro”, and it is soft to step on it, but unfortunately it is limited to elementary school students and below.
Finally, on the roof stands the giant god soldier from “Valley of the Wind”, who is actually the patron saint of the Ghibli Museum.
