How to get to Tokyo Takarazuka Theater

About Tokyo Takarazuka Theater

The Tokyo Takarazuka Theater, located in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, was a stage theater directly operated by the Takarazuka Opera Company. The theater was first opened in 1934, but was demolished in 1997 due to reconstruction, and the current Tokyo Takarazuka Theater was reopened on January 1, 2001.

The Takarazuka Opera Company is a large performing group in Japan, whose members are all unmarried women, and whose male roles are performed by women in reverse roles, and whose marriage means that they have to leave the company. At present, the troupe has five groups: “Flower, Moon, Snow, Star, and Zeus”, and there is also a “Specialized Section” made up of senior members who are highly skilled in their craft. Specialists do not belong to any of the groups, but support the performances of each group with “special performances.

The Takarazuka Theater in Tokyo is the exclusive theater of the Takarazuka Opera Company. The entrance to the theater is covered with a red carpet, and the bright lighting creates a sense of elegance and space; there are over 2,000 seats in the theater, and the stage can be seen from any seat, so the audience can see the performers’ brightly colored costumes, clear attire, and gorgeous performances from the farthest distance.

Tips

It was my first time, but it was so wonderful that I naturally cried.
I think the first half of the play was the main part, but the review at the end was the highlight!
The top stars with their wings on their backs, coming down the grand staircase with light steps, as one would expect from Takarazuka, were truly wonderful.
The line dances and turns were also a sight to behold.
I was even interested to see why everyone was so into the show.
It is a different space where you can experience something out of the ordinary.
Whether you are interested or not, it is worth seeing at least once! It’s worth seeing at least once, whether you are interested in it or not!
