How to get to Takiya

About Takiya

A group of seven purple buildings located right next to Tokyo Okachimachi Station. These are all Takiya stores. It is one of the largest and oldest general discount stores in Tokyo. The purple buildings have a great impact. This purple color is the symbol color of the Takiya chain, and once you see it, you will never forget its presence. The store sells everything from groceries, daily necessities, and clothing to luxury brand goods, jewelry, and furniture, and it is inexpensive.

All product categories are too many to introduce. Recently, the store has become a topic of conversation as wealthy tourists from China, Taiwan, and other countries flock here in droves and several sightseeing buses line up in front of Takiya.

How to get there

1 minute walk from Exit 3 of Naka-Okachimachi Station on the Subway Hibiya Line or 2 minutes walk from North Exit of Okachimachi Station on the JR Yamanote Line.

Tips

This discount store in Ueno, with its trademark purple color, is conveniently located and sells everything from groceries to furniture and brand-name goods at low prices. Although I can’t deny the feeling that the store has recently been expanding its product lineup with Asian tourists in mind, I am satisfied with the prices!
