About Sapporo Moiwa Ropeway
Moiwa, a 531-meter-high mountain close to the city center, is a popular destination for local residents. Moiwa, which rises 531 meters above sea level and is located close to the city center, is well known among citizens as a mountain that can be easily visited. The scenery is beautiful from season to season, especially during the fall foliage season, which begins in mid-October.
The ropeway and mini cable car (nicknamed “Moris Car”), which take you to the top of the mountain, are also a treat. The view from the ropeway’s large windows is exceptional. Enjoy a relaxing walk in the air as the cityscape gradually fades into the distance.
This is also a representative spot for viewing the night view of Sapporo, which has been recognized as one of the three newest nightscapes in Japan. The beautiful cityscape of Sapporo is clearly visible during the daytime. The romantic atmosphere at dusk and the change to the night view is also a must-see. From the observatory at the top of the mountain, you can enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view that is truly breathtaking.
How to get there
From Odori Subway Station or Susukino Station, get off at “Ropeway Entrance” tram stop and take free shuttle bus for 5 minutes.
If you want to visit Ropeway/mini cable car round-trip ticket (Sapporo, Hokkaido), first make a ticket reservation!
If you have a discount coupon, you can make a reservation and purchase tickets online at a discount price.
Tips
I stopped by when sightseeing in Sapporo. Moiwa, but due to time constraints, we boarded the ropeway before dusk. The ropeway on the way back to the summit was just before sunset, so there was a long line of people waiting to board the ropeway on the way back.
It was probably a bus tour or a group of people who were going to the summit at that time of the day to see the night view and come back down. The ropeway ride may have a long wait time depending on the time of the day.
The view from the top of the mountain is outstanding, so a nice day is recommended.
