About Io World Kagoshima Aquarium
The aquarium is located in Kagoshima Port with a magnificent view of Sakurajima, the symbol of Kagoshima, across Kinko Bay. The aquarium exhibits approximately 800 species and 10,000 items, including the “Kuroshio Aquarium,” the only one of its kind in Kyushu, which features whale sharks, tuna, bonito, and other fish that migrate on the Kuroshio Current, as well as other sea creatures from Kagoshima, including those living in Kinko Bay and the Nansei Islands.
In addition to the “Dolphin Time” program in the dolphin pool, which introduces the ecology of dolphins, “Blue Sky Dolphin Watching” is also presented in the outdoor canal that leads to Kinko Bay. The dynamic performances reminiscent of wild dolphins living in the sea are not to be missed. Other events include whale shark and seal mealtime tours, guided tours of the museum, and more.

Tips
The first thing that surprised me was that there were dolphins swimming normally in the channel under the bridge leading to the entrance! I heard that they usually put on a show, but the channel is a natural sea connected to the open sea, so I felt that it was quite an unusual exhibit!
When you enter the museum and go up the escalator, you will see a big tank and a huge dolphin! A large aquarium and a huge whale shark! I was already overwhelmed at this point. And to top it all off, there was a live deep-sea creature, a Satuma Haorimushi, on display, and a deep-sea probe outside, so I was convinced that there was a connection there. I was convinced. I was overwhelmed by the aquarium from the beginning to the end.
